Brent Matthew Lukaszewski
GUILTY!
14 months jail time, $615 fines and court costs, and prohibited from caretaking animals during his 3 years probation!
Brent Lukaszewski was found guilty of animal cruelty by a jury on January 3, 2012!
On Sept 21 2011, Brent Lukaszewski submitted an "affadavit of indigent status." He was declared "indigent" by the court on 9/23/2011. This court document basically insures he will pay NO fines or court costs should he be found guilty.
If not for the intervention of concerned citizens, this could have been much worse.
In April 2011, Brent Matthew Lukaszewki was living with a disabled woman, and she was afraid of him. Two young adults were next door, helping out, raking leaves at her neighbors' home. The young man heard a dog screaming beyond the fence, and jumped the fence to save the dog, Gurdie. Lukaszewski had Gurdie hanging from a tree by her neck, her back feet barely reaching the ground, and was beating her about the head and body with a 2x4. When confronted by the brave young man, Lukaszewki fled. The woman with whom he was living refused to make a statement to the police for fear of repercussions from the deranged Lukaszewki, a man with over 20 arrests to his name. He later moved.
PAWS confirmed they euthanized Gurdie "due to complcations of advanced age and prior treatment."
An AJRG member is close friends with the "next door neighbor," and is acquainted with the "kids" who stepped in.
Here is the neighbor's note written on April 6, 2011. We have removed the witnesses names:
had a traumatic day earlier- neighbor was beating his dog with a 2x4
and had it hung from the tree- didnt see it myself but the kid who was raking
leaves at our house climbed over the fence when he heard the dog screaming- was
a nightmare- had cops here all day- have not heard if they caught him yet- he
ran or rather rode away on his bike- we called the police yesterday and
couldnot get any answers- makes me sick- fortunately the dog appeared to be
okay and the animal control came to take it over to paws- we are going over
today to check on the dog and give them a report of what [they] saw
happen. poor kids they are scarred by it too- [she] was crying and wants to go
and try and adopt the dog.
wemay have to call on your animal friends to get this guy what he
deserves.
will let you know what I find out.
